Many people know what a Delilah is from reading the story of Samson and Delilah in the Bible. This is the woman who helped chop off a Hercules-like man’s hair, causing him to be relinquished of his unnatural strength. They may know about a Delilah from being chimed with the lyrics of Benjamin Prophet’s, “Delilah on de loose.” The song goes out of its way to show just how precarious a true Delilah can be: “Nah take no sip from she juice. De last man who take ah sip still confused.” Yep, that’s how the song goes. But do you know how to spot a Delilah?
You can spot a Delilah from a mile away
But in a sense, both the biblical story of a Delilah as well as its amusing musical counterpart are sometimes too far off from everyday life for the average person to easily pair with reality. Indeed Delilahs do walk the earth; but unless you’ve already had your run-ins with your share of devil’s advocates, there is the very likely possibility that you’re still not well versed enough to spot the one.
Delilahs can be so attractive or alluring that they can just unexpectedly come into your life and turn everything in your world upside down. Not the “head over heels” kind of upside down; afterwards you may question if you might have been better off sharing your life with a blow-up doll.
Face to Face with Delilahs
Delilahs in the traditional sense have always been women. This doesn’t mean that all Delilahs are female. But seeing there are almost no normal men, if any, named Delilah, this article will look at the core matter from only one perspective.
Hands down, a Delilah is nothing short of a deceitful or greedy bitch. Of course most people would prefer to stay away from such a tainted creature. But more importantly, you can’t repel a Delilah without knowing what really makes her tick. So then how exactly can you tell when you’ve come face to face with one?
Delilahs will usually try to screw you over for two reasons. The first reason is money. The second is rarer but has been on a constant rise in recent times. Delilahs are obsessed with ultimate success. Therefore, to summarize, Delilahs will either try to leech as much from you as they can. Or they will do everything in their power to lead you down a dismal road where you won’t ever see the light again until it’s too late. Now let’s evaluate both Delilahs.
Delilah driven by money
She always walks around like a cartoon character with dollar signs sparkling within her eyes. Additionally, she wears the finest clothes and jewellery, her nails and hair are always done; and she constantly talks about someday driving a different car for every day of the week. She talks about all of these things even though she has long proven to have as much intellect as a toad slowly roasting on a frying pan.
This Delilah hardly ever pays for anything—be it food, transportation or otherwise. She gets all upset and may throw tantrums when she can’t always get what she wants. They may even use any means of deception they can think of to swindle money at someone else’s expense.
Unfortunately, men are often highly susceptible to these women; many men usually like to feel that they can take care of a woman’s every needs. Usually, the Delilah will insist that she’s simply high-maintenance. But a man with better judgment should easily be able to point the Delilah towards the door; he may even suggest she finds some other guy to help “maintain her” while they’re both on a high.
Delilah driven by success
This Delilah is worse than the former because they can easily make men lose their sanity. Like the gold-digging Delilah, money is often their driving force but they take it a step further. Sometimes all they need is a gullible man yearning for a long-lasting relationship; this man will literally do anything to please a woman because he’s afraid of being alone for the rest of his life.
A vindictive Delilah lives for this kind of frailty in a man. She will suck him dry by consistently telling him things like what kind of clothes he should or shouldn’t wear. He would be told how he should posture himself and speak when he is in public. And he may even be instructed who he should or shouldn’t talk to whenever she’s around him.
Outside of the latter situations, one can observe the probability of a woman being a vindictive Delilah; just observe the way she interacts with people around her. Being excessively bossy and always needing to be in control of everything greatly increases the chances that the hat fits the clown.
First glance can often give the impression that a vindictive Delilah is more harmless than she seems. But just wait till you hear some of the things she would say to her closest friends behind her man’s back: “I’m only with him because he takes care of me. He’s not a real man. I just want to take whatever he has and then go get me a real hunk.” Now that’s a bitch!
They don’t deserve your sympathy
It’s true that Delilahs are human just like the rest of us. But there’s something so inhuman about a person who could come across the most kind-hearted human beings and immediately think of ways to take advantage of them. Whatever someone’s reasons for being a Delilah, they should always remember that what goes around comes around.
Then again, the worst of Delilahs would hardly care since the punishment that returns later may affect their children or someone else dear to them instead. “But I’m a Delilah. Nothing really matters unless I can make someone grieve; rewards must revolve around me.” No matter which one you come across, just do yourself a favor and avoid Delilahs. It’s best you keep your money, health and strength.
